The #GreatBigGreenWeek will take place this year between 7th and 15th June 2025. It will see people across the country join together in a nationwide celebration of action to protect the planet, showing that communities across the UK are making swaps every day to help create a better tomorrow – and now we urgently need politicians to step up and play their part.

Greener Together: Empowering Communities, Inspiring Change
We’re excited to announce a fantastic funding opportunity, made possible by the National Lottery, to help communities across Wales bring their green ideas to life during Great Big Green Week 2025 (7 – 15 June)! Whether you’re planning an eco-festival, a sustainability workshop, a community garden project, or an arts-based climate initiative, we want to help make it happen! This funding is designed to support underrepresented groups, including ethnic minorities, disabilities and youth, and can be used to contribute to your event costs.
We can make a small contribution towards essential event costs, such as:
- Venue hire – Creating spaces for change
- Refreshments – Keeping your community energised
- Consumables for art projects – Inspiring creativity through sustainability
- Other essential costs – We’ll consider additional expenses that help bring your event to life (subject to approval).
Note: While we may not be able to fund an entire event, we encourage you to apply for up to £150 to help cover key expenses.
How to apply
Key dates
- Fund launch: 1 March 2025
- Application deadline: 9 am, 15th March 2025
- Funding decisions announced by: 25th March 2025
- Short report and receipts submitted by: Monday 20th July
Once a decision has been made
You will be notified by email by 25th March 2025. One of our volunteers will be in touch to let you know. We will make every effort to have a Climate Cymru representative attend your event.
Important
- Funds will be allocated based on how well your event aligns with the goals of Great Big Green Week and supports underrepresented groups.
- Funding allocation will be decided by the Great Big Green Week Coordinator and Climate Cymru volunteers. The fund is overseen by Climate Cymru’s Advisory Group.
- We will consider each application on its own merits but the fund is small and we cannot guarantee funding for all requests
- If you are unsure whether your costs are eligible, feel free to email us before submitting your application: clare@climate.cymru
- You will be required to submit all receipts, along with a maximum 200 word report with x2 images, by 20th July 2025 to clare@climate.cymru
