F.A.N. Community Alliance
F.A.N. (Friends and Neighbours) Community Alliance are about bringing the community together – reducing loneliness, strengthening bonds, building resilience, rejuvenating community spirit. They formed in 2008 and became a registered charity in 2019. There are 17 trustees and over 100 members. They manage the Friends and Neighbours Centre and The Lane Community Garden; organise community events and activities; support volunteering opportunities, residents groups and the Mini F.A.N.s Youth Group; and promote environmental awareness responsibility and sustainability.
“FAN acknowledges the connection between the climate and other environmental crises and the threat of current and future homelessness, disease, food and water shortages and poverty for millions of people around the world, as well as the major damage being caused to our natural eco-systems. We recognise that we are in a climate & ecological emergency and treat it as such - because if we don't, they wont. Governments need to take scientific advice and act on it - the time is over for debating if and when. Action needs to happen now!”
