Cynnal Cymru
Cynnal Cymru enables action towards a fair and just society, a low carbon economy and a thriving natural environment.
“Increased flooding and rising food prices are just some of the effects of climate change we are already seeing in Wales, with the biggest adverse impacts being on the most vulnerable. At a global scale, sea levels are rising, arctic ice sheets melting and average yearly temperatures rising. Whilst unavoidable damage has been caused, we still have an opportunity to create a better future if Government acts now; involving citizens, as well as private and voluntary sectors, in implementing ambitious action plans to ensure carbon budgets are met. At Cynnal Cymru we work to support an integrated approach to decarbonisation across sectors, ensuring maximum co-benefits for society and our environment are achieved whilst emissions are reduced. We see value in national and local governments collaborating regionally to set ambitious targets towards net zero and identifying opportunities to improve lives. Action must focus on changing systems around how we live and work – from ensuring local and sustainable food, energy and transport is affordable for everyone, to ensuring appropriate investment in nature recovery with co-benefits to health, wellbeing and jobs.”
