Centring Community Voices for a Just Climate Transition in Wales

4 May, 2026
By Climate Cymru Ethnic Minorities Network

On 27 March, the Climate Cymru Ethnic Minorities Network (CCEM) brought together ethnic minority organisations from across Wales for an important climate consultation focused on delivering a fair and just climate transition in Wales.

The session centred on people’s real-life experiences of housing, transport, and agriculture, key sectors at the heart of Wales Climate Week 2025. Participants shared the barriers communities face in accessing and shaping climate and environmental action, discussed existing solutions, and identified what must happen next.

By putting these voices at the centre of the conversation, we are challenging existing approaches and calling for a climate transition that is inclusive, equitable, and works for everyone.

Our aim is to ensure that climate policy in Wales is not only effective, but shaped by communities that have historically been under-represented in decision-making. These shared conversations form the foundation of our ongoing advocacy, as we work to turn community priorities into meaningful, community-led change.
