Sero Zero Waste
Sero Zero Waste are Newport's first zero waste shop. They encourage people to reduce their plastic consumption by offering a service where they can reuse the plastic containers they already have and refill them with household essentials such as cleaning, bathroom and personal care products, as well as whole foods. They also work closely with local businesses to encourage their customers to shop local with minimum carbon footprint. As well as operating as a retail space they also work closely with the community looking at behaviour change and run workshops and events which encourage more sustainable living.
Why do you care about the climate?
Because the natural environment is suffering as a result of our behaviour, which is absolutely avoidable. We should all care about the state we are leaving our planet in for future generations and the effect we’re having on entire ecosystems causing wildlife to become endangered by our actions.
What action do you want to see from our leaders?
Placing more responsibility on supermarkets, car companies, fossil fuel companies etc. to make changes to the way they are doing things as well as the current pressure being placed on consumers to find alternative options.
What gives you hope for the future?
Simply put, our customers. Seeing people make changes to their everyday habits to try and make a difference to what’s happening to our environment and realising that there is no one type of person who cares really instils faith in humanity.
